Alpine Skiing @ salz21, 11.03.2026

Salzburg Research was once again present at salz21, showcasing current projects and demonstrators from Digital Motion in the field of alpine skiing.

The focus was on innovative prototypes developed together with industry partners such as Atomic and the WINTERSTEIGER Group. In addition to enhancing safety in skiing, the developments are also intended to contribute to the optimization and further development of ski equipment through data-driven analysis and new sensor technologies.

Another focus is a research and development project with the FIS (International Ski and Snowboard Federation) in the area of athlete safety, aiming to reduce accident risks in alpine skiing and further improve safety in competitive sports.

The work is carried out in close collaboration with research partners, including Paris Lodron University Salzburg, JOANNEUM RESEARCH, and the Linz Center of Mechatronics.

We would like to thank all visitors of salz21 for the inspiring discussions and the great interest in our demonstrators. Christoph Thorwartl especially enjoyed the many engaging conversations at the booth.
