DiMo-NEXT at CHI 2026 in Barcelona, 13 – 17. 04.2026

Researchers from DiMo-NEXT participated in the ACM Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems (CHI 2026) in Barcelona, where they organized both a workshop on movement sonification and a SportsHCI meet-up.

The workshop “From Movement to Sound and Back”, organized by Vincent van Rheden, Michael Reichmann and Alexander Meschtscherjakov, brought together researchers and practitioners from HCI, sonification, sports and the arts. In the workshop, participants explored movement sonification through hands-on activities using the Movement Sonification Toolkit developed within the project. They designed and tested their own movement sonifications and discussed embodied approaches to sound-based interaction.

In addition, Vincent van Rheden organized the “SportsHCI Meet-Up”, which focused on networking and discussing challenges and opportunities in the growing field of SportsHCI. The meet-up connected researchers working on embodied interaction, wearable systems, movement data and interactive feedback during physical activity.

CHI is one of the leading international conferences in Human-Computer Interaction and provided an important platform for exchange with the international HCI and SportsHCI communities.
