Our project partner JOANNEUM RESEARCH, Institute of Sensor Systems, Photonics and Manufacturing Technologies, has been nominated for the Houskapreis 2026 in the category “Non-University Research” with the project “PyzoFlex® – Sensor Technology of the Future” (link to homepage: : PyzoFlex – Sensortechnologie der Zukunft – B&C-Gruppe).
The research group developed PyzoFlex®, a new generation of ultra-thin, flexible sensors capable of precisely detecting even the smallest changes in pressure, force, or temperature.
Within DiMo-Next, PyzoFlex® forms a central technological foundation. The sensor elements enable the measurement of ski curvature, torsion, and vibration directly on the ski, as well as the detection of position-specific deformations of the ski boot. This makes visible what would otherwise remain hidden to the naked eye and opens up new potential for data-driven product development, quality monitoring, and performance analysis in alpine skiing.
The nomination highlights the innovative strength of our consortium partner and confirms Digital Motion Next’s ambition to translate cutting-edge sensor technologies into market-ready applications.
We warmly congratulate the team and keep our fingers crossed for the award ceremony.
